Code of Conduct and Guidelines
SharedFutures Community Standards
SharedFutures only acts as an introduction and networking service. We cannot provide any warranties or assurances about the work experience that your child might undertake.
We created our platform for parents/caregivers to make useful work experience connections within their child's school. It is therefore your responsibility to make sure that you are happy that what has been offered to your child will be a safe and beneficial experience for them.
The success of SharedFutures within your child's school depends on the willingness of other like-minded parents and caregivers to make suitable offers of work-experience. Since we do not know who will join the platform, we cannot guarantee that there will be offers that will suit your child's particular interests, however we believe that a variety of work experience can be beneficial, and so we encourage you and your child to consider a broader range of opportunities if no offers seem directly applicable.
The more parents who join, the more opportunities can be provided.
IMPORTANT: You must be over 18 and be a parent/primary caregiver for a child at your child's school to use this platform. In-person work experience opportunities are for children in Year 11 and above. Children in Year 10 can apply to online experiences.
This Code of Conduct is subject to our Parent/Caregiver's Agreement available on our website. The operation of your SharedFutures account is also subject to you abiding by this Code of Conduct.
Account Security & Supervision
SharedFutures is designed for communications by the parent or primary caregiver of a child. Do not allow anyone under 18 to log on or use your account or profile. If your child wishes to provide any details for the platform or consider work experience opportunities, they must be supervised by you. Keep your log in details and password confidential.
Keep It Polite and Respectful
The success of the platform relies on courteous communication. We do not tolerate offensive or disrespectful content or messages. If you see any content that concerns you, report it to us.
Honour Your Commitments
Only offer work experience where you know that you can fulfil what you offer. Failure to provide the opportunities you have offered, without reasonable excuse, may result in the termination of your account.
Safety Responsibility
Where you provide work experience of any kind for the benefit of fellow pupils at your child's school via the SharedFutures platform, you accept full responsibility for the safety and appropriateness of that experience.
Parent-to-Parent Communication Only
All arrangements for work experience that you offer are to be made by you with the parent or primary caregiver of the child. You should not attempt to contact the child to make arrangements about the work experience opportunity.
School Safeguarding Requirements
Your child's school may require you to supply risk assessments and/or other documents in order to comply with any safeguarding standards. Follow their instructions and provide or upload any documents as directed by the school.
Application Refusals
You don't have to accept every application for the work experience that you offer. We understand that there may be particular issues about you working with a specific child. To avoid embarrassment, you do not need to provide a reason to refuse an application but you may only refuse a maximum of two applications. If you refuse more than two applications, we reserve the right to terminate your account with no refund of your subscription fee. You agree that you will not discriminate on any unlawful grounds in relation to the acceptances that you make.
Be Generous 💝
If you can donate an offer of work experience without requiring a Token for it, you will be helping a family who might not be in a position to offer work experience and gain a Token.
Don't Take Advantage
Don't accept offers of donated work experience when you are actually in a position to gain a Token by providing some work experience. Your school is a small community and we want to keep things harmonious.
⚠️ No Home-Based Work Experience
Under no circumstances should work experience take place at the home of another parent.
Online Project Supervision
For online research projects, you should be available and within earshot to supervise interactions between your child and another parent.
You're In Charge
If you are not happy about the arrangements for your child's work experience, don't let them attend or carry it out until you are satisfied.
📋 Unifrog Registration Required
All arranged internships and work experience placements must be uploaded to Unifrog before the internship begins. This is a mandatory requirement to ensure proper documentation and compliance with your child's school policies.
